Q: How can I view an flv. formatted video?

A friend told me that an flv flash video posted on youtube needed an adobe flash player to open it. I tried that, downloaded Adobe flash player to my Mac and . . . nothing. It still won't open the flv file. What did I do wrong, or what else can I try?? Thanks.

iMac (27-inch Mid 2011), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

Adobe Flash Player

Check Flash Version

Adobe strongly recommends that you first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller:
http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html#main_1 0_4

Follow the instructions closely, such as quitting ALL applications first before installing. Repair permissions and restart your computer after the installation is completed.
