how do I change media sync options for an "iPad"

I purchased a tv show with many episodes from iTunes, and after downloading my memory is full. I have deleted all the episodes, and still there is no memory available for an update. Not finding a way to free up what memory I had before downloading the shows, I hit the "update" tab anyway. I hoped it might give me a clue how to free up my now full memory. After hitting the update tab, it told me I didn't have enough free memory, and I must "change my media sync options".

I have yet to find an answer on these support communties about this topic related to iPads. There is pleaty for iPhones.

If anyone can tell me how to restore the memory I had, or tell me how to get to where ever I change my "media sysnc options" I would be very grateful.

Hi oreille,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

If I'm understanding your question, you are trying to download TV episodes to your iPad, but there isn't enough room for them.

Click on the links below for details and screenshots that explain how to:

  • Download TV Shows
  • Change your media sync options - change what items you sync to your iPad (ie. All episodes, unwatched episodes, etc.) Remove checkmarks from items you no longer need on your device in iTunes.
  • High Definition vs. Standard Definition download options affect file sizes
  • Understanding Capacity - how to remove apps and data to free up space on your device.

* Always backup your device before making significant changes to content / settings.

Syncing movies, TV shows, podcasts, and iTunes U content

  1. Connect your iPod to your computer and open iTunes.
  2. Click the button with your device's name, below the Spotlight window.
  3. In the main iTunes window, select Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, or iTunes U.
  4. You can choose to automatically sync all your content or content that you haven't watched. For TV shows, podcasts, and iTunes U, you can also sync automatically based on TV Shows, podcasts, or collections.
  5. Your device needs to have enough free space to sync the content that you selected from your library.
Tip: You can use the capacity bar at the bottom of the device settings window to see how much free space is available. The window will update with an estimate as you select content.
  6. Click Apply and iTunes will sync the audio content you selected to your device. The iTunes LCD will show the sync progress and notify you when the sync is complete.
  7. To disconnect your device, find your device in iTunes and click the eject icon. User uploaded file
