podcasts within podcast app no longer refresh

I think I am getting something similar. Since recent update to podcast app on iPod Touch noew episodes in iTunes are not being sent to iPod, played episodes are not being deleted from iPod even after deleting from iTunes.

@camoracer: I have exactly the same problem here! For me the Podcasts App is totally broken now!

Followup details. It seems to be the app not working, sync is working. With iPod connected to computer I can expand iPod in menu, then expand podcasts, all of the new episodes are shown. They just do not show up in the app.

Well I have something that worked for me. Did a restore to factory on the iPod, reinstalled apps and synced with iTunes. All seems to be working again so far. Only time will tell now

yep, earlier this week the app stopped doing any kind of syncing. i have it on my phone. it won't download the podcasts directly (the little arrow button has vanished) plus when i plug it in to my laptop to sync to itunes, nothing happens.

has there been any words from apple about this?

I am surprised there hasnt been more complaints on this. Full restore on iPod got the app synbing again at least. Now, using iTunes to look at iPod contents, episodes are being added and removed as appropriate. But in the app removed episodes still show up in list. They are not there to play but still show up.

could you explain how you did this full restore?

With iPod plugged into computer and showing in iTunes there is a button labeled Restore iPod. Click on this and follow instructions. This will restore it to state it came from store. If you have iTunes doing backups you could then restore iPod from backup. I chose to not do this since have nothing on iPod to lose.

ah ... i use it on my iphone. can't restore that. dammit.

I found an easier way that worked for me. Go to each individual Podcast you have subscribed to, then the edit screen, then un "Subscription" the button, wait a short time, then re "Subscription". It updated the podcast list to current and most recent programs. Hope this helps.

ok. will try that. i've also uninstalled the app and set it up again. it meant redoing a few setting things but i think it's worked. maybe.

I already have iTunes set to sync all unplayed podcasts. Are you saying I have to do the same for each podcast on the iPod also? What's the point of that?

I've read a workaround in a german discussion board: Synchronize your device with iTunes, deselect "Synchronize Podcasts" and then synchronize your device again, reselect "Synchronize Podcasts" and synchronize your device a third time. This way all your podcast-episodes will be deleted and transfered again each time, but it works for me.

Sometimes some episodes are grayed-out. I use an iPod touch for listening to podcasts. As soon as the iPod touch gets WiFi-connectivity, the grayed-out episodes appear as normal episodes you can listen to.

Nevertheless i hope that Apple will release a fix for the Podcasts-App very soon!
