I would reset it to be sure she doesn't have access to any of your private information - even if she is your daughter.
What your trying to do is absolutely possible. You can create her own Apple ID and use it for iMessage and Facetime so you can communicate with her and still use your Aplle ID for itunes so she can use any of the apps you have already purchased (she will still need your password to buy new apps!)
- Follow these instructionsto reset the iPad being sure to restore as NEW.
- On the iPad, set your Apple ID in Settings > iTunes & App Store
- Set HER Apple ID in...
- Settings > Messages
- Settings > Facetime
- Sync the Apps you want her to have through iTunes or download them directly on the iPad from the App Store.
If you want to restrict her use of certain features on the iPad, you can follow geddie's advice. But read up on Restrictions and how they work. The forums are loaded with people who turn something on and then don't understand why they cannot do something. :-)
