what about doing this under mavericks

Trying to move a user account from one mac to another using time machine. I tried to do it mac to mac but the migratino assitant app one or the other mac kept crashing. In tryhing to do it via a time macjhine back up of the user name, Migration Assitant identifies the time machine backup but never comes up with a "volume to transfer informatino from". There is a box that remains empty under the image of the powerbook that I am trying to transfer the account from. So I'm stuck.

any ideas? Anybody know why migration assitant might be crashing (I am not running back to my mac on either macbook).
