Unable to send texts/call abroad

I live in france and cannot send texts to the UK or call the UK from my iphone 3gs. I am ok to send texts/call within France. I have a french sim card through SFR. It is not the sim as we have tested the sim in my girlfriends phone and can send texts/call the UK when the sim is in that phone. SFR have also confirmed that the sim does not require any additional function 'turning on' their end to enable international calls/texts. Any ideas??!

I have tried to delete the contacts and set them up again, but still doesn't work. The contact number formats are correct, we have checked this also.

Ask your phone carrier why you can't text/call abroad, those are both carrier features.

No, unfortunately this is not the case. As I mentioned the sim works fine in other phones and carrier has confirmed not a carrier issue. It is only a problem in this one phone. So must be an issue with the phone.

There are only a few troubleshooting steps you can try, before the last step, which is restoring your phone. Try: Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings...this will not delete any data, but will reset all settings to default. If no change: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings...this will also delete all saved WiFi passwords.
