iTunes will not process my iTunes emailed gift card.

Trying to send gift cards via email, but every time I try to send, I get either a message to contact support, or that the transaction cannot be completed at this time. Tried contacting support to no avail. They just said I should send through the Apple store if I was having problems, but the Apple store doesn't send via email. I have tried to purchase over a dozen times on different computers. I can purchase on the Apple store under my AppleID, but it will not go through with iTunes Store.
