It must be a mid-2007 model regardless of when you bought it. Open System Profiler and check what the model identifier is. Should be iMac 7,1.
What model is it? Open About this mac and go to more info. When new window will be open it will tell you what model it is. Is it Mid 2007? If not, then your iMac doesn't match requirements: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5842

OSX Mavericks will not install on my iMac. I purchased the iMac August 2007 current operating system OSX Lion 10.7.5
