Use iMac For Both OSX Server

Im looking at setting up OSX Server on my new iMac computer which has 16GB of RAM. I want to use the iMac for both desktop/personal uses as well as a server to run Owncloud. I'd rather run my own server than sign up to a host provider.

How easy would it be to implement this and are there any drawbacks to this? I'm completely new to the Mac world as of last year and came from the Windows where I was familiar with running IIS on the same computer as my personal desktop computer - was hoping I could do the same here.

Thanks

iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

There are no drawbacks. OS X Server is just OS X with the Server app, so you can use your Mac for both personal and server uses at the same time without any problem. This is not like Windows Server, which is a specific Windows server version
