is there an easy way to reboot an iphone 3gs?

so my friend recently gave me an old iphone 3gs that he had laying around, he forgot the passcode and so it is now locked for around 7,000,000 minutes, but thats not all! i know that normally you can put it into recovery mode, but sadly the power button is broken, ultimately making this whole process a whole lot more difficult on my part, i was wondering if there are any easy ways to reboot it or put it in recovery mode, i cant get recboot to work either, anything that may help is greatly appreciated!!
