Beware – Update will break current version iPhoto and Aperture editing for users shooting with the original Sony NEX-5 models, even if you're not working with or shooting in RAW format.
Daveswallace, what do you mean by it will break current version? Is it just asking your to reprocess the images?
It reprocesses your edited photos with the sharpening slider tied to the red channel, peaking all reds if the photo has been previously sharpened and preventing sharpening on any new photos. That's just the bug I noticed - there may very well be others.
This update does not appear in my App Store updates-tab. It says that RAW Compatibility was updated to version 4.09 on Oct 23, and can't find any new updates.
Do I still need to switch my (German) system to English language to get the latest updates?

The upgrade is only available with MacOS X 10.9. and Aperture 3.4.5. or later

No automatic update in App Store, even after changing the system language. Did the manual update now. The user experience of App Store updates still isn't excitingly good in Mavericks.

They App Store servers may just be too busy, and the German App Store is frequently a few hours behind the rest of the world. The support page for manual updates usually will be the faster option to update.
A few forum members here reported, that the updates took several days to finally show at the App Store, but all of a suden they were there.
WARNING under 10.8.5 with Java 7 Update 45 / Java for OS X 2013-005 installed machine will freeze at next startup !
I suggest you disable your Java if you are running 10.8.5 🙂

Oracle has yet to update Java for 10.8.5, let alone OSx 10.9
Thanks for the suggestion, but we need Java (we have some applications using it).
Besides, without Oracle version (only Apple's Java 6), the bug is present… and migrating to 10.9 in production env. isn't adequate now.
I have the current Oracle JDK 7 u45 running on Mavericks, and I had it running on OSX 10.8.x before. No problems so far with Eclipse, Netbeans and Tomcat. As I'm writing this, you can see that my machine did boot correctly. 😀

But what is the relation between Aperture/DC Raw and Java?
Under Mavericks we have no problem, but under 10.8.5 yes.
What I have done :
1) Install 10.8.5 from AppStore
2) Install iWorks, iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto from AppStore
3) Done all Apple update, except RAW and Safari
4) User must enter a PW to login
Reboot / Shutdown many times : no problem
5) Install RAW update -> freeze at startup sometimes (you have to try)
But what is the relation between Aperture/DC Raw and Java?
Very strange I agree, but if remove Java from the machine the bug disapears…
