Mac mini rejects all DVDs

My Mac mini running OS 10.6.8 refuses to accept any DVDs. It whirrs and makes a number of noises, but finally always rejects and ejects them. Even a cleaner DVD was ejected.

Any suggestions?

I solved the problem from a different discussion using a soft glasses cloth wrapped round a credit card. A few wipes and all is well.

I had the same issue with my 2009 Mac mini. Since I had no guarantee anymore, I decided to replace the DVD drive. And yes, issue was gone. ...for some time. Then - only a after a few days - exactly same behaviour with the brand new drive an freshly set up mini. I was thinking about what I did recently, and realised that I had installed and deinstalled a lot of applications.

So I installed Mavericks freshly over the existing Mavericks installation, issue gone. Now a few weeks later issue there again. Totally annoying. I will another over-installation and report what happened.

I just resolved this issue with a Giotto Rocket Blower. Blew repeatedly into the slot and it now takes disks it previously rejected.
