can't get updates from AppStore

I want to update xcode after upgrading to OS X Mavericks and although I am signed into AppStore with my Apple ID, it asks for the password of the previous owner of the mac, which i don't have. How can I solve this issue? Do I have to uninstall AppStore?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

If you're seeing the previous owner's Apple ID appear, then this Mac was not properly prepared to sell to a secondhand owner. I suggest following the instructions from Apple to prepare your Mac for your own use. You may need to be in contact with the original owner to carry out all of the instructions.
