Re: How to back up an existing Backup to a larger External HD

I have an iMac i5 (late 2009) which has a 1TB HD. I am currently backing up on a 500GB External HD. Although I have still got over 100GB left on the External HD, I am beginning to consider a 1TB External HD, as I am getting more into photography, which is space intensive. How would I go about ensuring, that my current backups are transferred to the new External HD, before cutting loose the old 500GB one? Can anyone suggest what use, that I could put the old one too. I have considered, backing up photos, but read somewhere, that this can cause problems, but cannot remember precisely, what they were.

iMac 27" i5, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Why not just connect the new external hard drive and do a new complete backup of yout Mac on it. Then you don't have to copy anything from the original backup drive. That is what I would do.
