Why have important emails started going to Junk folder?

Starting recently important emails - even one from my wife - have been going to the Mail junk folder in bold, in amongst the yellow-shaded normal Junk emails that are always there. I need to check the Junk folder first thing every day now and move them. I only have 3 Rules set up and none of the words I have in Subject Line or From areas are in these emails. I haven't changed hosting companies (though I soon will) or changed anything in Mail. I did put in the 10.8.5 updates to Mt. Lion recently and have had some other glitches ever since.

Same problem. singing the not junk does not change the new mail coming in the next day.

Have junk mail turned off and still important mail from my bank goes to junk mail. Some does some does not but usually it is the same security mail from one bank and eBay and sears, macy's .

Can not figure it out like I said no junk mail filtering no rules.

I'm not 100% sure what is going on there but here are some ideas that may help:

Check your Junk Mail preferences tab inside Mail. In my copy, all three of the "The following types of messages are exempt from junk mail filtering:" are checked. Presumably your wife's email is in your Contacts list? If that's the case, she should be exempt and never placed in the Junk mailbox.

In my Junk mailbox, bold just means I haven't read the message (I think).

Have you tried clicking on each incorrectly junked message and pressing the "Not Junk" button?

There are plenty of guides giving more information about junk mail filtering on the web, Apple has a brief set of suggestions here:

There's also a good guide at the following URL:

Hope that helps.
