Why is there a restriction on window size in Pages 5.0? And is there a way to make the window smaller anyway?

I like to work with multiple windows open on the same screen at once. Now the smallest allowed width of the window takes up over half the screen (I have a 13 inch macbook)! This restriction is here whether or not I am zoomed in or out. Can I get aroundt this???
