Windows installer can't detect boot camp partition

I haven't really kept up lately but the only thing I see missing in your information is you didn't say if you had Formatted the Boot Camp partitiion to NTFS. The last I looked into Boot Camp that was one of the mandatory things you had to do in order for the installer to "see" the partition.

You end up formating it twice.

The original format when you make the Windows partition should be "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" it's done by the Mac (BootCamp) then when your booted from the Windows installer you then have to format it again with the NTFS format. And of course it has to be on an internal drive. And a full install disk not an upgrade disk. Boot Camp 5?

Take a gander at the instructions again and see if you might have missed a step?

Im on the same step here, but i have a MacBook pro. how would i format the boot camp partition to NTFS ?

Select the partition and click on format, in the windows installer.

I've tried that, then it deletes it and doesnt let me click next. Theres a nessage that says it has to be NTFS format and to do that it looks like i have to click advaced options, but that option is not on my computer i really dont know what im doing wrong

Which option is not availalbe? Advanced options or NTFS? NTFS isn't available - if you click on "format" it should format the partition NTFS automatically.

Yeah advanced options. After i click format it just deletes the BOOTCAM partition and doesn't let me click next.

Look at that PDF and look at step 3 install windows on mac. I never see the first image i alwasy see the second and as you can see there, theres no driver options, when i click FORMAT it removes BOOTCAMp from the file name.

If you boot holding the Alt key does a recovery HD option appear in the boot menu?

Yes it does

So when you click on format the BOOTCAMP name disappears. It should do.

Can you then click on next, bottom right?

And have you clicked on "show details"?

I have. I formatted the one that was renamed (second pic) and it went through!!! I didn't want to I thought it would delete something important but no that's all I had to do (format it a second time)

I am having a similar issue, but it's even worse. My bootcamp partition doesn't even show up when I try to install windows. I tried going back and reformating the drive to NTFS, but now NO drives show up at all. What can you possibly do if the drive isn't showing up at all?
