When I zoom into a pdf in Preview, I don't get a horizontal scroll bar so can't move around to offscreen parts of the document. Anyone else experiencing this or know a solution?

Today I learned that if you hold down the shift key you can use the scroll wheel to scroll horizontally.
It's a workaround for a very annoying bug.
I have essentially the same problem. View a PDF file created by scanning a page. Magnify the page;
no scroll bars appear. I can scroll by using the up/down arrow keys, but only horizontally with my my Apple A1152 usb mouse.
Yes indeed, presence of a second page results in a useable vertical scroll bar;
still no horizontal scroll bar (but arrows and mouse trackball allow horizontal scrolling).
Hoping we see a fix from Apple presently.
Adding a blank page temporally is a reasonable work around at least if you use a non apple mouse. I do not know if this workaround works around other tracing/scrolling devices. Leave feedback and maybe they will fix it. You have to make noise!

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.
Same problem, no horizontal scroll bar in preview in Maverics; only with mighty mouse possible to horizontal scroll. Not useable for stadras wheel mouse.
For me just the up down right and left arrows work. Is apple wanting us all to upgrade to swiping products

Add a second blank pdf page in the sidebar, that should give you full mouse use then when done with the single page delete the blank page you no longer need.
