My iPod won't charge

My iPod won't charge

I have connected it to an electrical outlet with the apple power adaptor, left it overnight and its not charging. I live in a tropical country and wonder if the humidty afftected the USB connector or if perhaps the connector is damaged since I use it on the Bose and lately it hasn't made a good connection without a lot of fiddling. I have heard that putting it in a bag containing rice helps to dry out electrictronic devices - would you recommend that?

Not Charge

- See:

iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting

- Try another cable.

- Try another charging source

- Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic. Based on your description, this may be the problem.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Try the rice, it can't hurt.

Thank you very much for your advice, I did reset the iPod and then left it plugged into the electrical outlet and in the morning there was a full charge showing and also an alert message saying something like this device is not supported by this charging accessory. Odd, don't understand that but in any case it's charged! YAY.

I had exactly the same problem unless I plugged my iPod Classic straight into the USB on my Mac. I solved it by searching the house and finding my original Apple charger and lead that came with my iPod when I bought it and it works perfectly. I can only assume that later USB leads and/or charges are wired to the old Apple style iPod connecter in a slightly different way.
