If you activated "Find My IPad" you may be able to locate it using that facility. See http://iCloud.com

you can do it by

open your iTunes ----> Preference ---->Devices

then you will see all the devices that you link with iTunes before , then move the mouse over the name then it will tell you what the serial number is

Report to police along with serial number. Change all your passwords.
