Q: Canon MP510 scanner not available under 10.9, who can help?

Canon MP510 scanner not available under 10.9 since update, who can help?

Canon informed me that Apple does not support this device any more, apple informed to contact the manufacturer.....

Any ideas how to activate scan function again?

Printing is okay under 10.9 and under 10.8 scan+print was okay.

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9)

Canon has a scanner driver and the MP Navigator scanning application for the MP510 for OS X 10.8 so you could try installing them on your 10.9 Mac. I am not sure if either file is digitally signed, so Gatekeeper will block the installation. To install them, you can Control-click on the respective installer and select Open from the pop-up menu. You will then be given the option to install.

And for the record, Canon makes the drivers - not Apple, so it is Canon that is not supporting the MP510 on OS X 10.9.

Hallo PAHU, your tip helped a lot. To install the scanner driver did not lead to success, but using by MP Navigator I have acces to the can function again. Not in the same way as under 10.8, but it is working, that's important. TU

I found in another post, that You can also use the tool Vuescan, which support this printer too.

But you have to purchase Vuescan. At least MP Navigator is free.

FYI: had no problem installing Canon's official MP501 off the Canon UK site on OS X 10.9.5 and scanning in images through the software. You do have to manually select 10.8 in the list, as the page attempts to auto-detect OS and switch to incompatible 10.9 page. Using the built-in OS X Scanner preferences will not work.
