Microsoft Intellimouse for Bluetooth

Does anyone know or have first hand experience using the Microsoft Intellimouse for Bluetooth with a MacBook Pro? I am having a hard time finding a Bluetooth mouse. I want to use the built in Bluetooth and not have some dongle sticking out. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello All,

I think the best portable mouse, by far, is Kensington's Bluetooth Pilot Mouse Mini. Although it only has two button plus the scroll, I find it to be ergonomically superior to anything else I've seen. It's not too small to be comfortably useable, but it is small enough to be quite portable.

Best of all, it can be configured with Kensington's Mouseworks software. Kensington was very quick to release a UB version of this software, and it allows total configuration, on an application by application basis. Very nice.

I recommend the Mighty Mouse over the Intellimouse. The MS mouse was great before they put that stupid tilt wheel in; now the middle button is prohibitively stiff.

Besides, I love the 360º scrolling with the Mighty Mouse's ball (and found the panning effect of the tilt wheel to be useless).

It does seem to me however that I was able to program the Intellimouse software to recognise the thumb buttons on the MS mouse as forward and backward. I may have had to download an older version of the software however. I know I did to get the Microsoft Office keyboard to work properly (best keyboard Microsoft made, and they all but dropped support for it in both Windows and Mac versions of Intellitype in more recent versions).

In any case, I use the Mighty Mouse at the office (where I don't mind a larger mouse), and an IOGear mini bluetooth mouse with my MBP (it's a little small for desktop use, but the perfect travel mouse -- one of my favourite things is the fact that its rechargeable batteries can be charged from the computer using a mini-usb cable, which oddly enough does not function as a data cable for use with non-bluetooth equipped computers).

I will always swear by Logitech these days. The one thing no one can argue with is that they are by far the most egernomic of any mice made. They feel great in your hand. They always have great mac support in their drivers. I just purchased their newest laptop mouse (not BT, works with USB dongle) but works great. No regrets. I did have a simple BT mouse by logitech before, but love my new one. I think it's something like the MX Revolution.
