Adding Image to Header - Pages 5.0

Hi, I need to add an image to the header in Pages 5.0 (newly updated!)

and can't seem to do it!!!!

How do I do this, is it even possible? I have tried to Copy Paste, no use.

Any help is appreciated, the new version of Pages is quite frankly, annoying as ****.

Thanks! 🙂

I am using Pages 5.1 (now downgraded to '09 version) and i do not like how Apple “walking around”. Even couple of “walks” and I will break my 15 years of gradual successfull acquaintance with Apple. Because they:

  • Killed 17" notebooks
  • Killed usable iphone screen proportions
  • Killed steel in iphone body
  • Killing MaOS usability and stability
  • Killing iTunes usability
  • Killed and abused in a particularly perverse form the iOS interface
  • Killing iWork usability and ideology
  • I think that iLife has the same problems

I don't want to insert picture to header by using hacks of page breaks or somethig else. Because i have to place picture to header directly because it can not be done in other way. Do not break something that works. Especially do not break what works best. I can tell you what “in the neighbourhood”: millions of stupid neofit Apple idiots.

In the old version it was simple. What if I don't want it in the company logo not on the cover, but on the rest?

Hi Madget,

How to change a Header with Insert Section

Pages 5.5.2

Section Breaks may be the way.

First Page with an image in a Header (click in the Header and Insert > Choose > navigate to your image file

User uploaded file

Insert a Section Break and

Document Panel > Section > untick Match Previous Section

User uploaded file

Then you can delete the image in the Header of Section 2:

User uploaded file

My answer may be the opposite of what Jaquescop was asking, but the method is there 🙂.

Regards,

Ian.

Hi Madget,

I am using Pages 5.1

Have you tried Pages 5.5.2?

Yes, we know. If you want to rant, please send feedback to Apple. This forum is for users to help other users.

In Pages, Menu > Pages > Provide Pages Feedback. Please be polite in your feedback to Apple. The Apple employees are people too.

This seems to be another of Apple's "improvements" - i.e., taking away a facility that existed in an earlier version! What on earth is the point, have Apple's software developers gone mad? iWork 5.0 is turning out to be a complete disaster - in the previous version I had no problem in inserting an image in a header, why on earth have they now made it impossible?

I can be exact but you place the image where you want it. Then look in the Arrange menu ( I hope there is one in Pages 5) and send back the image. In theformat menu (I think) you can way down make the object as Master object. You have to scrutinise the menus!

Yes, there's an Arrange Menu, and a Format menu.

Move Object to Section Master is gone from the Format Menu and now resides in the Arrange Menu. Send Objects to Background is gone from the Arrange Menu.

Now when you choose Move Objects to Section Master in the Arange Menu the objects also go to the Background layer. No choice!

You would expect that it would be as simple as dragging the image to a spot inside the header and that would work. When it doesn't it's a pain to find that the documentation does not help. Thanks for this thread. Not sure what I did but placing the image where I wanted it, then selecting "Arrage->section Masters->Move Objects to Section Masters" worked. I've saved it as a template and the image now appears on every page in the header section.

Thanks.

You are ignoring my basic advice to continue using Pages '09.

My instructions for Pages 5 are as good as it gets for Pages 5, but Pages 5 is just a lobotomised version of Pages '09.

Peter

btw The 90 missing features is now over 110 missing features despite the few Apple has "fixed", and that ignores the well established bugs that Apple has not fixed. Do you want your next post to be "How do I open my document? It won't open, or crashes Pages"? Because that is Pages 5.2.2.

The rest? The rest is bullsit as well. Very poor usability. But real Numbers tables. But it do not compensate titsless headers.

I do not understand what for they had made header funcionality so failful. It means that Apple do not understand what Headers are for. Facebook generation thinking. Changes just for changes. Changes in desktop Pages version like touchscreen common-interface reason.

Apple is dead. And it products degradating very fast.

PS I cat not insert picture to header as you describe it. And i not want to insert it to every page in my 100+ pages documents.
