How to upgrade RAM in Macbook Air 2011

So, I bought this Macbook Air 2011 from a pawnshop for $500 and it is my very first Mac. I can say that I am really impresed considering I wouldn't even glance at a PC with the same specs.

Right before I made the purchase I contact applecare to see if they could tell me if the RAM is upgradable. They said that the RAM could be upgraded so I made the purchase.🙂

Turns out, you can't. It's directly connected to the logic board. 😐

This brings me to my next question. Can I replace the logic board that has 4GB RAM installed on it? IS there any company that can just upgrade my RAM?

Jerrod,

I misread a few words in your original post. If you already have 4 Gb, that is all the 2011 will support anyway. There is no 2011 MBA with larger than 4 GB.

You would have to buy a 2012 edition to even find one with 8 Gb.

Your machine right now should serve you well. I wouldn't fret too much. It is likely you will get quite a bit of use, before you find that more than 4 Gb is needed or wanted.

4 gig is plenty to run 95% of everything out there, $500 you got it for is a great price if its in good condition etc.

My old Air I sold off only had 2 gig of RAM and would do everything and run video and download and have 20 web tabs open all at once.

Honestly, you dont "need" more RAM,.....you said youre happy with it.
