iPhone 5s Touch ID not working while plugged in on charge, charging.

I'm having the same issue with my iPhone 7 Plus with some of the outlets in my house. Did you have an electrician figure out what the issue was? Haven't had this issue in the past 3 years in this house until it started randomly happening. We have 2 phones that are exactly similar and I even had mine replaced with a new one and all have the issue. My iPad Pro works fine though... Apple support hasn't been able to suggest any resolutions.

I HAD the same problem before. Does your iphone have a protective case? Because i noticed that if I Put the rubber protective case in the phone while charging, the touch id is not working and the phone is unresponsive/ lagging. But when i removed the protective case the phone work very fine. I can't explain though why it happened.

I have the same problem with my iPhone 6. However, I have narrowed it down to the Otter Box Defender Case I use with it. When the case is off, Touch ID works fine while charging. When the case is on, Touch ID fails while charging. I've recreated the exact same issue with a second iPhone 6, different Touch ID.

I hypothesize that somehow the case exacerbates whatever errors are due to unstable voltages from the charger. I was using an after market lightning charger as well. Small price to pay to guard against a broken screen I say.

Lastly, I'd first look at the case to start troubleshooting, because I have had previous similar errors connected to these same culprits with an iPhone 4s touchscreen/Defender case combo.

Hi, Touch on both our 5s & 5c work perfectly either on charge or on battery power.

Silly ? - Have you had an Electrician visit your home and check your wiring etc..

Have you tried using your power supply at another house?

Are you doing any work at home that might interfere with your fingerprint/home button?

I have the exact same problem. I noticed recently that the Touch ID does not work when the iPhone is connected to the charge. If you keep your finger on the sensor and disconnect the cable - iPhone unlocked immediately!

Having the same issue. Also seems to affect the touch screen as well. Very happy with the phone otherwise.

I've had my iPhone 5s for less than a week and am having a similar issue. I bought it through at&t "certified like new" so its technically preowned, but should work as a brand new phone. When it is plugged in I cannot use the touch ID to unlock and it have SEVERAL glithces that go on while charging. I have charged it in several locations, and the same thing happens each time. It mostly glitches when I am texting. Hits buttons sporadically and changes screens while I'm typing a text, especially if I get another text while I'm in the middle of texting it will jump around. I just unpdated it with the latest software and nothing had changed. I am going to go to my at&t store today and try and see what is going on. Any other suggestions on this?

The problem is with the ossalation of the power socket that the phone is plugged into. Try using it on a none shared plug socket or extension cable. I have the same problem when the voltage is not consistant to the phone. Home Plugs for networking can be a major factor / cause of this problem

I will give that a try, but at my work its the only thing plugged in to that socket and I have the same issue.

I had this problem yesterday with my iPhone 5s. After investigating, it occurred to me that I had recently switched to using a non-apple charger, with the lightning cord plugged into it (I think it was a slightly more powerful charger - not sure what it was intended for). I switched the plug back to the charger that came with the phone and no longer had a problem. Switched back again - had the problem. I am not sure what about the charger caused it, but now I know to just stick with the apple charger intended for it.

(I am not certain if this helps you because I don't know if you ever changed chargers, but I just thought maybe someone else might find it useful information!)

Having the problem, but I'm using the original USB cable and plug. This problem seemed to have appeared after about 2 months of using my iPhone 5S.

I have tried hard reset, turning off and on TouchID, and resetting all my finger prints. No luck.

Try plugging it in at a different location on a none shared plug socket and see what happens

Same issue for me, even when plugged using an apple cord into a 2012 iMac
