ios 7.0.4 Update battery issue again!

I just did the update and after I unplugged from charging overnight my battery drained over 50% in a 1/2 hour on standby!!!! Why does this garbage continue to happen? Anyone else having this issue. FYI, before update I had everything turned off to save battery life so no stranger to the ios7 battery issue but thought it was not going to happen with an update.

Hmm interesting. I really don't know if it's across all iPhone 5s devices having horrible battery, I honestly think it is. Like I received a replacement and it has the same problem (but at least it's not freezing like my first brand new one). I mean it's pretty ridiculous you have to turn off all the "smart" features to help the battery, but I feel I'm still following this and the battery is horrible. Welp. Not sure if there is an solution. I was mentioning it to one of my friends who has an Android device he said his old iPhone would lasts days between charges. So...is it the new software? I don't know, but it's frustrating having to charge my phone at like 3pm after barely any usage and I got the device replaced.

Hello,

I had exactly the same issues discussed several pages ago...

My iPhone 5 with iOS 7.0.4 got really warm when while using. Even in standby it was a little bit warm and battery was draining. Also I wasn't able to create any shortcuts.

So I tried the workaround form AkuraMadrid - and it worked!

- turn of iCloud with documents

- delete all shortcuts

This morning my phone worked just as I used to. Wonderful!

My question is:

Is the problem now fixed? Or will my iPhone get warm again, if I turn the Cloud on again?

Do I have to do anything else, so that I can use the cloud properly?

I won't miss this service...

We'll

7.0.6 installed and with the 3/4G on the battery issue remains.

Turn off the 3/4G & the battery drain still stops

My replacement IPhone 5 will run for nearly a week withe the 3G off, with it on 5 hours even whilst not in use.

It also gets very hot if I am actually using the 3G. I was using the 3G for hours yesterday and the battery was dead in 5 hours whIch is exactly the same as if it was in standby.

Well I have noticed something else here. Last weekend I was out of the country and had 3G and data roaming off to save money. While away the battery performed well on my 4S. I am home now and often recharge my phone before bed. Prior to this weekend I would wake with 95% battery left and 15 or so minutes of usage. Now....after having 3G off last weekend , I wake with the phone showing 95% battery and 1 hour of usage! ( and to be clear the standby hours are accurate at 8 or 9 hours.) My battery lasts the day......so I a wondering if the battery meter and counter are now more 'honest' at least and showing usage of something or some app that is running in the background and using time and battery. I imagine that if I turned off find my iphone and location services like some others have suggested, I would likely discover theses are the heavy users of power. So far I don't think ios 7.0.6 is any different for battery life.

  1. Make sure you kill those apps that are running in the background for nothing
  2. Turn off wifi if you’re not using it (Settings > Wi-Fi and set Wi-Fi to Off)
  3. Turn off 3G if you don’t need it (Settings > General > Network and set Enable 3G to Off)
  4. Turn off Push Notifications (Settings > Notifications and set Notifications to Off)
  5. Turn off Bluetooth (Settings > General > Bluetooth and set Bluetooth to Off)
  6. Turn off Push Email (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off)
  7. Fetch new data manually (Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually)
  8. Go through a full charge cycle each month (charge the battery to 100% and completely run it down)
  9. Turn off vibrate
  10. Auto-adjust Brightness (Settings > Brightness and set Auto-Brightness to On)
  11. Optional: turn your iPhone 4 off (just kidding)

ENJOY 🙂

This is the first time I have ever had major trouble with my iPhone or posted here. I've had my iPhone 4s for 2 years now and at the start of Feb, my speaker started not working. I lived with it for a month but on Sunday, I made an appointment with Genius Bar and they replaced my speaker for $80 AUD. The speaker works now but when I took it home I restored from backup but accidentally pressed the 2013 backup!! So that whole night I was angsting over a years worth loss of history but at least I remembered most my apps and transferred my music. It was a hassle but I can live with that! A useless battery, I CANNOT.

The very next day I get on train and my battery is 50%. I was so shocked!! I am listening to music and it drains at 1% every one or two minutes?! Today at 1pm, I charged my battery to 100%. At 3.30pm my battery is down to 55%. I wish I had never replaced that godforsaken speaker. I have tried every 'fix' recommended for battery draining but like someone said in the early pages, this is not going to be fixed by tampering with the settings, this is a serious and abnormal battery drain. (Oh also my usage and standby are exacty the same) I've made an appointment tomorrow for Genius but I really don't want to factory restore settings and go through possibly another backup/restore nightmare. This is the first time technology has seriously let me down and I'm really annoyed! My contract finished a week ago so maybe it's time to move on because there is no point in having a phone where I'm constantly stressing about how fast the battery drains.

At the moment, I am letting the battery drain to 0% and then trying to full charge it, because I saw it recommended, but I doubt that will work. I'm so disappointed

Update: I went to the Genius Bar where they told me to delete my Gmail App and if that didn't work to restore to factory default and then restore backup. The battery problems disappeared after I restored to factory default but reappeared when I restored from backup. The next day, I restored to factory default for the fourth time in this mess and have lost all appdata (had to reinstall). Luckily, I had all my pictures backed up and got my contacts back from iCloud. I also used iBackup Viewer last night to extract all my messages in notepad format (I still lost a year's worth because of the previous mishap mentioned in my first post), as well as to save data from one other App. My battery works fine now, there must have been a bug or software problem in the backup /shrugs. I'd also advise you to backup your backups because if you have those backups, you can get a third party software to help you, but if you let Apple override it, you've lost everything which is what happened to me.

Hope everything works with you all. It was a huge pain for these few days but as long as these problems don't resurface, I'm a happy camper.
