Inabilbity to sign in to icloud

I changed my Apple id and password last night because I can no longer use my former email which was x. My new username is y. My iphone won't let me change my used d to sign in and keeps prompting me to use my former user id, which is no longer accessible. it also won't let me deltet the new account. I'm stuck.
