Q: iCloud calendar showing notifications when I do not

I keep getting '7' showing up on my calendar icon on iCloud, but there are no notifications.  When I go to notifications, it tells me there are no notifications and when I go back home, the '7' is gone.  Then a few minutes later, it comes up again.

iMac (27-inch Late 2009), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.2)

    I'm having the same issue, but in addition to the Calendar icon showing I have 7 new events which aren't in the notifications inbox when I open the calendar, my Reminders icon is showing I have 4 new reminders. They aren't anywhere in my reminders lists when I open that either. I've tried clearing the history and deleting all cookies from my browser, but it doesn't seem to matter. It happens no matter which browser I use - and I've tried several, hoping it was just a weird fluke with Firefox...

    Same issue here. all the items seem to be synced, but i get a numbered icon, with none in the notifications box.

    Mac 10.8.5 Safari 6.1.1
