i have the same problem .. i did the same thing .. with home and lock button !!! but at least 1-2 times per day that problem consists !!! is apple trying to tell us that iphone 4 is for the trash can?

I wanted to cry because this happened to me as well and first instinct was to take it in to see if they could fix it, but being as it is Labor Day, they are closed so I was freaking out. If you are someone without a lock button, there is an application you can use, it is called tenorshare Reiboot, it allows your phone to be put into recovery mode thus allowing it to reboot. you can enter and exit the recovery mode with this application. I use this as i have no lock button and my screen goes blank occasionally.

The fact that you're seeing anything on the screen is a good thing.

I would connect to a computer using iTunes and restore it. The software managing the devices hardware is corrupt and needs to be restored. Create a backup if you can.
