Hi bruce4079,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. This article has some information on syncing PDFs between your devices:

iBooks: Viewing, syncing, saving, and printing PDFs on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4227

When you use iBooks to open a PDF, iBooks will automatically save a copy of the PDF to your iBooks PDF shelf. These PDFs will sync to your iTunes Book library the next time you sync your device with iTunes.

Syncing and saving PDFs

To add PDFs to your iTunes library on your computer, drag and drop the PDF into your iTunes Book library. If you're using OS X Mavericks, drag and drop your PDFs into your iBooks library using iBooks for Mac.

To sync a PDF to iBooks on your device:

  1. Select your iOS device. (Learn more about syncing your data with iTunes.)
  2. Click the Books tab.
  3. Select Sync Books.
  4. If iTunes is set to sync only selected books, select the checkbox next to the PDF you want to sync.
  5. Click Sync.

You can use iTunes to back up your PDF files so they will restore to your iOS device after you update or restore your software or transfer information to a different device. If you use iTunes 11 or later to sync your PDF files to iBooks on your iOS device, a backup of your PDF will be automatically created. A copy of the PDF will be added to your iTunes Books library, or iBooks library if you're using OS X Mavericks.

Cheers,

- Ari

Hallo everybody

I dont know if i understand this right but for me the given answer solved not the question.

I want also sync PDFs from my iPad to OSX.

I have a lot 100+ PDFs on my iPad 5/ iOS 7 that i need to transfer to iBooks on OS X 10.9.

The description here only answers the question to sync all books between both devicesc which is no option as i have so many pdfs on my iMac, they wont fit on my iPad. As well do i have no Problem to Sync from iMac to iPad.

As well are all collections synced, but the collections which contain 100s of PDFs on my iPad are empty in iBook on my iMac as there seems to be no option like "backup all my PDFs from my iBooks on my iOS device to iBooks on my Mac".

i Hope someone can help here.

Thanks in advance & Cheers,

Heiko

Hi

I solved it by myself with a lot of time and research:

To sync PDFs from iOS device to iBooks in OS X:

in iTunes

- highlight iOS device in iTunes sidebar

- goto Menubar File (Ablage) > device (Geräte) > transfer purchases (Einkäufe übertragen)

all the PDFs will be copied to your Mac

then in iBooks

- Menuebar File (Ablalge) > transfer books from iTunes (Bücher vin iTunes übertragen)

all your PDFs from your iBooks on your iOS device are synced to your iBooks on OS X.

i found no official documentation about this and the files are not synced while you do a normal iOS device sync.

thats really anoying for such an quite common action.

Cheers

Go to this site:

http://www.ipubsoft.com/idevice-tips/transfer-pdf-from-ibooks-to-mac.html

and download this app.

I spent hours finding the solution and I finally found it.

This is a fantastic app. It is free. The only catch with the free version is that you can only move one file at a time. But it is still worthwhile. It worked quickly and I was able to transfer 30 files (pdf files) one by one in no time.

It shows all the files in Books and Music Playlists very well and clearly.

There was no other solution that worked to be honest.

I hate itunes and resent the fact that I had to waste so much of my time to find out how to do something so simple.
