Power Macwont respond with red light on processor board

I have Mac Pro and it will turn on but the computer will not respond and the screen stays dark. There is a red light on the processor board that is on and the power light is lit on the front of the machine, but nothing else. What should I do?

PowerMac, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

Hi, it depends a bit on whether this is a PowerMac, or a Mac Pro, two different animals.

If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

Hi Michel,

If you can get it running again...

Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem & the Startup right after that for clues.

Click on the top line we want, Shift plus click on the bottom line we want, CMD+c to copy, then paste the text in a reply with CMD+v

A few dozen lines should be about right, hundreds or thousands won't likely be readable.
