Hello!

If I am loading pages on the Internet or doing Photoshop work, my iTunes will skip. I have a speedy processor, plenty of RAM and my iTunes library houses under 400 songs. I do the same sorts of activities while running iTunes on a Mac mini - and my library is close to 9,000 songs - and I never hear a skip. So... Why would this be happening?

Thanks!

Are you running any iTunes widgets? I had a lyrics widget running that would make my iTunes skip.

I would start by launching Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal) and running the following command:

    sudo /etc/weekly

Press the Return key, then type your password and press the Return key again.

This should provide some relief, especially if your Mac is not left on all the time with sleep mode disabled. If it does help and you find you need to run this maintenance script (plus the daily and monthly scripts) on some sort of schedule, I can give you some simple instructions to set this up properly.
