My dad and I have shared an apple account and up till now it hasnt mattered however he just now got an iPhone. How do I change my icloud to my own without deleting all of my music I have gotten under the other account. Is this even opposible or do we just have to share it now?

I would suggest creating a new Apple ID for your dad for his new iPhone.
That will keep all of his iCloud contacts, email, calendars, etc. separate from yours.
If you wish, he can continue to sign in to the iTunes store with your current Apple ID to access purchases.
Or start fresh with his own Apple ID controlling iCloud and the iTunes Store.
