I don't see it that way. What makes it difficult to diagnose is the dearth of information about the Netflix algorithms but when every other device outperforms the ATV client it *could* mean that once inside the Netflix CDN cloud Netflix is punishing just the ATV or it could mean that a recent iOS update broke the client (whoever wrote the client could be blamed in that circumstance unless Apple tweaked a framework on the down-low).
I remain inclined not to fault Netflix. They not only have a lot of working clients they even have another/other working iOS 7 client(s).

Nov 25, 2013 5:50 PM in response to hypnotoadieby DustyStorm,Nothing has a made a difference for me. Hasn't streamed at Super HD in two weeks. I expected some kind of fix by now. If one doesn't come, I am giving up on Apple TV and getting a Roku 3.

Nov 25, 2013 6:53 PM in response to DustyStormby bobbyc03,I am irate. I pay $8 for netflix streaming each month and tried to watch a 2hr movie and it buffered and was low quality. I want my money back.
$8/30 days/24hrs x2hrs= $.022
I want my $.02 back -
Nov 25, 2013 7:08 PM in response to bobbyc03by DustyStorm,Go ahead and be sarcastic but when you pay for a service and $100 for a device you expect that device and service to work and be fixed in a reasonable amount of time when it's not working.

Nov 25, 2013 7:09 PM in response to DustyStormby muka3d,I'm having this same quality issue, for over a week now. 3rd gen ATV is hardwired, and up to date with 6.0.2. Did a full factory reset, same result. PS3, iPad, iPhone, PCs all show it in HD or SuperHD. Definitely not a network connection problem. Anyone from Apple care to comment on an upcoming fix?

Nov 25, 2013 7:27 PM in response to DustyStormby bobbyc03,Im sorry you're right. I just had to do the math and figure how much netflix costs each hour.

Nov 25, 2013 8:18 PM in response to DustyStormby Volsspongebob,Same issue here. Update 2 weeks ago, netflix starts in super hd for a few seconds, stops, buffers and goes to poor quality picture. All other apps working beautifully in full HD. Called netflix, they say they are aware but are not taking ownership of it. Blaming it on bandwidth adaption. I have a Comcast 30M coming in. Running an apple AirPort Extreme with latest updates. Guess we sit back and wait for an update to fix the update because my opinion is that apple owns this frustrating issue.

Nov 25, 2013 9:39 PM in response to DustyStormby Morgan123456,Similar issue here! I can play all other HD quality video like ESPN and HBO, but Netflix plays in HD for 10 seconds or so and then switches over to SD. Have been using Netflix on Apple TV for over a year frequently and have never seen this happen until this week.

Nov 25, 2013 10:06 PM in response to bobbyc03by Vandergraff,boobyc03 - thank you for apologizing but the hourly cost of netflix isn't the point.
They have a market cap of ~20B$ because ~30 million people (and growing) see value in $8/month for their service.
Now if the service has no value (low quality SD streaming has no value for me) then they start losing subscribers.
I am not looking for a refund - heck I would pay more for realiable streaming.
Now back to the subject - tonight in Primetime the Apple TV was only getting 384 kbps (as the title of the thread says - horrid) - while my Chromecast got 5800 kbps on the Example Short and Top Gear looked very good (better than on DirecTV) and my router average suggests I was getting the full 5800 kbps. Hoping Apple / Netflix fix this soon.
The irony is that when you get Super HD 5800 kbps it can look very good (Skyfall, Pirates of the Caribbean, Arrow are all good examples).

Nov 25, 2013 10:09 PM in response to DustyStormby hypnotoadie,The > five-minute hard reset results didn't last very long. This afternoon I was able to watch an entire movie in HD and the Example Short 23.976 ramped up to 5800 kbps. However, tonight it's back down to SD. Netflix works fine on PS3 though.
If you are having problems please call both Apple and Netflix. The more complaints they receive, the more likely they are to actually do something. I scheduled a call with Apple. Netflix's number is (888) 638-3549. If this isn't resolved soon, I'm going back to Roku.

Nov 26, 2013 5:42 AM in response to DustyStormby George Cassello,Good morning from Boston everyone. I thought I would reach out and reply to this thread and let you know what has happened on my end. I just purchased an Apple TV 3 two days ago. Set it up, poked around a little the first night. Last night I watched my first program and had experience the same issue. I have a high performace internet package where I'm getting over 50Mbps over wifi and my ATV is hardwired in so I was blow away at how poor the quality was. No I do not have a solution but I was about to post on this site about my issue so I turned on my ATV and the first screen that opened up was "whats new screen" which I hadnt seen when I first plugged in my ATV. So I navagated back to the menu and what I found odd was that the "clicking" sound effects were turned on which I had shut off. All my other settings were still in tact though. I fired up Netflix and I'm having no issues at all. Super HD is immidiate and crystal clear. Like I said, I just purchased this so I'm not up to date on how many updates some of you others have done but I did do an update yesterday. But I did experience poor quality after that but I forced it to sleep last night and when I woke, eveything thing is fine. Maybe give this a try everyone. Hope you all get this fixed.

Nov 26, 2013 6:05 AM in response to George Casselloby Robin Edwards,Just to chime in: Tried Netflix UK on my Samsung BR player: SuperHD works great. Same issues as others here on ATV, running at SD quality generally.
