Dec 18, 2013 11:52 AM in response to John Barnes1by Maha66,Tried that all ready. Same problem: starts at 4300, buffers and bounces around in low quality. Hope someone can help. If not, sorry to burst the bubble.

I did restart my ATV before I started seeing HD last night, but I don't know whether that is necessary.
I didn't have to do that.

Perhaps something will ultimately be written about this in a magazine like Macworld, etc.
We don't really know how widespread the problem ever was. There were people on the AVS forums posting that their Apple TV's continued to get Super HD without issues. Of course everyone posting here had the issue - but if you weren't seeing the issue you probably wouldn't be here posting (you would be happily watching Netflix on your Apple TV).
Unfortunately it sounds like some are still seeing problems - hopefully whatever was fixed for many will roll out to them soon......

Dec 18, 2013 12:18 PM in response to bodosomby Vandergraff,Sorry to hear you are not back to Super HD on the Apple TV.
I also recall that you didn't really see any improvement when using Airplay with the Apple TV while many others here did.
Maybe there is a connection - maybe not.
Hope it gets fixed for you soon.

Dec 18, 2013 12:27 PM in response to Vandergraffby Maha66,Luckily, airplay works with netflix fine so I do have a work around. However, of course it would be nice if the atv worked. Hopefully I'm in the small minority still having problems and will continue waiting. Thanks again.

Dec 18, 2013 1:59 PM in response to DustyStormby MacRacer,I just was able to stream a couple of shows and they looked good, and did not "downshift" to previously unwatchable levels.
I also tried the Netflix test file and got a solid 3000 sustained at 1280x720. I plan to try again tonight during primetime to see if it continues to provide HD-quality.
FYI: I'm in Northern Indiana and am a Comcast subscriber.

Dec 18, 2013 2:55 PM in response to DustyStormby ATT_HSI_CSI,I'm in Indianapolis, IN, Comcast subscriber. I've experienced the same issues as others. I gave it a try today @ 4:45 EST and SuperHD has returned. The Cleveland Show and an episode of The 4400 both played with crystal clear video quality. No changes in my setup, it just started working.

Dec 18, 2013 3:17 PM in response to DustyStormby HUIYAH,Bummer. Super-HD (5800kbps) was rock solid last night, as it had been for several months before this problem started. But today, I cannot get over 1050kbps on AppleTV 3, TWC, 50/5 speed. Slowly, but surely locked into 5800 just fine on PS4 and Xbox One.

I posted about nflxvideo vs llnw/level3 stream performance so I took the next step and blocked access to nflxvideo. When sourcing from nflxvideo I was getting 235 to 3000. After blocking nflxvideo I'm sourcing from Limelight and getting 5800. It's only 18:15 US/Eastern but this is certainly better performance than I've seen.
So Netflix could have fixed the client problem by changing routing for the ATV3 so it streams from "better" CDN. Traffic information from another Rochester area Time Warner customer might point to route propagation issues.
My other devices still have no trouble reaching rated speed when sourcing from nflxvideo.

Dec 18, 2013 3:40 PM in response to bodosomby kmgiants,Just another person wanting to confirm that Netflix is back to looking like what we're paying for!! I'm in SF Bay Area and last night we reluctantly dialed up a show, assuming we'd get the same problem we've been getting for over a month. But the video didn't hiccup at the beginning and never seemed to downgrade quality at all. It looked great the whole time we watched (a solid hour+). Sad that it took this long for Netflix (and/or apple) to fix the issue but very glad it's fixed. Hope it stays that way!

If you're sourcing from nflxvideo.net try blocking it (108.75.32.0/20).
