Dec 21, 2013 6:58 PM in response to DustyStormby jimpal,Just watched a two-hour movie, in glorious Super HD, on Netflix on my same old Apple TV 3, in prime time. Just as I could before this flap started last month. No Apple software update needed.
As fun as it can be to bash Apple, I'm convinced the entire cause of this "horrid" quality was Netflix. Routing not worked out properly for their increased bandwidth Super HD, and their ATV app not compatible with the inferior stream they provided.

Dec 22, 2013 10:59 AM in response to wchillmanby Morac,I just compared the Apple TV 3 to the Roku 2 XS.
Apple TV started at 5800 Kbps and stayed there for the entire 15 seconds I tested. Roku started at about 165 Kbps and slowly ramped up, but maxed out at 3800 Kbps. So from my experience the Apple TV works better with Netflix than the Roku 2.

Dec 22, 2013 9:22 PM in response to DustyStormby Brian65PLS,Bazaar tonight. Wanted to watch on my iPad air rather than AppleTV because rest the family's asleep. AppleTV screaming at 5800. iPad air 235. iPad air started out at about 3000 and drop to 235 turned it on/off didn't help. Signed out and then signed back in. Do four different speed tests. Nothing wrong with the iPad air. Oh well Apple TV tonight with the volume low.

Dec 23, 2013 3:02 PM in response to DustyStormby George Cassello,I'm still having image quality issues. Not as bad as before but still ditched from HD to SD for a minute or two at a time throughout a program.

Dec 23, 2013 9:15 PM in response to George Casselloby ericfromin,You may need to have your modem reset or re provisioned. you will have to call your isp & have them do it for you.Make sure you get somebody in the states & a tech., even though your internet is working your modem might be in time out.Resetting your modem your self sometimes wont do it, i know it happened to me. Hope this works.

Dec 24, 2013 4:27 AM in response to DustyStormby GaryJR4,It did not go well again for me in prime time last night. Two episodes of Lillyhammer on ATV were not good then the sample would not get to HD. Then one episode on Chromecast looked great.

Dec 26, 2013 6:42 AM in response to DustyStormby neilkna,Our ATV and Netflix are working just fine now. We watched two hours of it last night without issue. Watching the test short at any time it now holds a steady 5800 and full HD quality. We have tried it a few days now at different hours, making sure to include prime time, and it has held full HD every time through the full show.

Dec 26, 2013 8:44 PM in response to DustyStormby EastcoasterWestcoaster,Netflix via ATV still not working properly for me: I get about 2 seconds of HD then it switches back to a poor quality SD look. I'm running a cable modem With 50mb/sec down, so it's not a problem with the connection speed. Tried resetting, unplugging and re plugging, but no dice: nothing seems to fix it.
