My only device is an iMac.
The Calendar app is currently synced with my google calendar. I want my icloud.com calendar synced too.
I tried googling this and came up very confused. Please explain clearly and simply.

BTW, the iCloud preferences in System preferences, and the Calendar preferences have the appropriate boxes checked for syncing. But the calendar at icloud.com is still empty.
What do you mean by "sync"? What's the point of syncing if you only have one device?
In answer to above: that is perfectly clear from my question. I want my google calendar to sync with my OS calendar and my icloud.com calendar. and vice-versa. I actually use several different computors in various places and time, and cannot always access all programs.
Sometimes I need to access my calendar from a public computer or a PC laptop, and want to be able to go to my iCloud webpage and see my calendar. After all, that's one reason iCloud exists. Why does the iCloud calendar exist if it won't sync with the data from my Mac OS Calendar application?
If I read you correctly, you have three calendars: one in Google, one in iCloud, and one local on your Mac.
Exactly, and when I enter an event on one, then the other two should have that event too, "automagically," through the power of the "sync"
Why not just use three iCloud calendars or three Google calendars? That would simply everything.
If you did that, then if you wanted to access your calendars from a random device, then you would just have to go to icloud.com or Google Calendar (whatever the URL is) and log in to see all of your calendars.
