The ony reason the 4G iPod does not have iOS 7 is the memory. The iPhone 4 and 4G iPod both have the same underclocked (800 MHz) A 4 processor and same graphics units. The memory difference has already been discussed previously in this discussion. Thus you added no new information in your reply one month after other replies.

Yes.

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

Generally, I'd just live with the IOS6+, but more and more apps are only compatible with IOS7. For example, tried to put on FLICKR the other day. It won't install because it's IOS7 compliant. Anyone know how I can get earlier versions of apps?
