none of my programs works ,,,, they just bounce!!!

i need hellllpppp!!!!!!!!!! i enable a new root user now none of my programs works ,,,, they just bounce.

ps.... i dont have a the firmware password since i bought it second hand.... please heeeeellllppppp!!!! its for my job!!!!! i'm in jamaica

Hold down the Alt/Option key at Startup.


In slow motion, over the next few minutes, it should draw a blank screen then add an icon for each potentially-bootable Volume.


If Recovery_HD is one of them, choose that.


You can try to select your Boot Volume and (Repair Disk)...


... but you will likely need to re-Install Mac OS X. You need an active Internet connection to proceed from there.

There is no way to circumvent a firmware password, other than a trip to the Apple Store:

Only Apple retail stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers can unlock these computers protected by a firmware password.
