Epson perfection 610 does not work as claimed with Mavericks. The driver has not been working since it was introduced in previous OSX releases. Will Epson look into this matter as the images produced are unusable, the cymk channels are offset.

the same problem with mine. EPSON support says that it's problem with an old hardware that they does not support any longer. In fact it works fine under Windows lunched as virtual machine under OSX… EPSON do not provide any updates to that scanner and they won't. Frankly, I do not fill if anyone try to find solution for that device, sad but true.

You might try Vuescan, it has been a Mac standard for many years. Vuescan offers enough options that the initial setup can be a bit daunting, but it works like a champion. The Epson Perfection 610 is on their list of supported scanners and they offer a free limited use trail to be sure it works for you.

Have you tried VueScan? It supports your scanner: Epson Perfection 600 Driver. You can run it in demo mode to see if it will work for you before purchasing it.

I found that Apple still support that scanner.

So… if they still up port that hardware there is an bug in driver which someone could resolve. I will dig deeper… :-)

Anyone know how to inform Apple they have a problem with the driver? Just to let them know...

Of course there is handmade solution by using Photoshop and move channels each other but frankly...

As a test log into another user account on your Mac and scan a couple of photos from there. Does the problem remain?

yeap. even if I connect scanner to another Mac. I did try with iMac, second Macbook pro I have, working under 10.7.3 and 10.8.5 too. So in my humble opinion problem is with the driver. I found out that some other people have the same problem with that scanner under different OSX versions.

so, kindly asking if you know the best method to let Apple know that their driver holds bug and ask them gently to solve the problem? TIA

It is Epson's driver, not Apples. If you want to let Apple know, send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I know it's quite old device but this is working fine for me. :-)

At the risk of being repetitious, Apple does not write drivers for printers and scanners. Their sole contribution is collecting the drivers from the printer/scanner manufacturer and distributing them. Epson has a long history of dropping support for older printers especially on the Mac. As a result third parties have entered the driver ,market for older Epson equipment. For scanners it is Vuescan for printers it is Gutenprint (a.k.a. GIMP-Print).

Thanks Joe, that is clear for me now. Hope is not a solution but spending 40 bags on soft were the scanner is worth 10… is not the best I would hear.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem (That's not buying $90 Vuescan)? I've been trying with Epson Support but it's like talking to a brick wall, first they send you basic instructions on how to Scan with Preview (which i've found a bit offensive after you stated an specific problem and knowledge), then after you clearly stated that you have downloaded every single update from the site, bam! they send you the exact same link, and finally they say that the problem must be the computer.

The standard edition which I use is only $50. If Epson doesn't provide a workaround it's either that of get a new scanner. Depending on the price it might be better to get a new one to get up to date hardware and software. My new Canon all in one scans much faster than my ancient Canon 8600F scanner.
