It would be really awesome if they do that, a lot of people have ipod touch 4th generation and they have been waiting for ios 7.

Enjoy iOS 6. In my opinion it is leaps and bounds better than iOS 7.
They do have enough RAM to run iOS 7
If must have iOS 7, you need newer hardware that can run it

But if they only add minor features the ios 7 will occupy less ram memory thus making it compatible.
You are going to have to agrue that one with Apple.
Beside not be able to do anything about your question, personally I don't care what Apple does for obsolete hardware.
