I've rebooted my iphone 5 a few times hoping this would help but to no avail. also, its interesting that this only started right after i updated the IOS to the latest software update tonighGT.... any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

How much free memory does it say the iPhone has if you check in Settings>General>Usage?

it says i have 10.4 gb used and 2.9 gb avail...

im trying to sync a movie/tv episode... and its saying that im like 9.5 gb over limit...im sooo confused. is it because of the update i just did?
Are you trying to sync a movie or a television episode or both? How many? How big is each one? What else are you trying to sync?
Is iTunes showing a large amount of "Other". If so, you may have corrupted data on your phone. You'll need to restore it as new to get rid of that.

the total amount of data that i would like to sync is less than the avail memory stated on my iphone under sttings general usage.... and no it says i have alot of purple (movies) that is taking up space but i dont see where bec i dont have any movies/tv synced prior to what ive been trying to get on my phone....

If it were my phone, I'd restore the phone as new and then re-sync. Someone may chime in with additional suggestions.
