Why are Audio CDs not importing?

I am running i tunes 11.1.3 on MacBook Pro OS X 10.7.5.

I insert an Audio CD with i tunes running wanting to import it. The CD ejects after about 20 seconds. It is not imported.

Any ideas as to how to fox this please?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

I checked with a visual CD : a film.

I get the same issue.
