Upgrading iTunes to be compatible with iphone.

I have a Mac OS X 10.5.8 and I tried to update iTunes so that I can connect my iphone to my computer but it is not letting me download iTunes. Has anyone else had this problem and how can I fix it?

Whenever I plug in my phone it says iTunes 11.1 is needed in order to use together, but my computer is saying iTunes 10.6.3 is the latest iTunes version. Do I need to pay for my computer to be upgraded in order to get version 11.1?

Hello, yes, you must have at least 10.6.8 installed.

Snow Leopard/10.6.x Requirements...

General requirements

* Mac computer with an Intel processor

* 1GB of memory (I say 4GB at least, more if you can afford it)

* 5GB of available disk space (I say 30GB at least)

* DVD drive for installation

* Some features require a compatible Internet service provider; fees may apply.

* Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and terms apply.

Which apps work with Mac OS X 10.6?...
