why do all the songs on my itunes crackle? I tried everything, I restarted my computer, I restarted my itunes, I paused & unpaused the song, I stopped & played the songs.. THEY JUST CRACKLE!
I also opened up my windows media player and played a song through that to see if that would crackle too, but it did NOT crackle. SO it's definitely my itunes..
I tried this (setting to SafeMode/waveOut), but I still get the crackling. No crackling at all if I open an iTunes folder song from within QuickTime, only from within iTunes itself.
Well it is great that you got it but I still don't. could you explain what you did to get rid of the crackling? I would appreciate it. Thanks, Jakeshjo
Although it's true that iTunes uses QuickTime, if I open a music file from within QuickTime, there is no distortion/crackling/hissing in playback whatsoever. The problem is isolated within iTunes. When I lower the bitrate in the QuickTime settings to 16 and the level to 44.1 KHz (and click on Safe Mode), then playback ended up being fixed--but why doesn't iTunes work on higher QuickTime settings (when the higher settings do work if you play music files within QuickTime)? It's some kind of horrible Windows-specific bug, I guess... Does anyone know if Apple is aware of or is working on this?
