Use Description Field in Get Info to tag a movie with Actors, etc.?

In some (but not all) previous versions of iTunes, I could search for a movie by using a word (an actors name, or "Oscar Winner") that I had tagged in the Description field in Get Info. Some versions, this worked. Others, it didn't. It's strange, it will work for some time and then stop, and then start up again. It doesn't work now with iTunes 11.1.3.8. Is this a setting I can turn on or off? Is there another field I can use to tag actors, etc. in?
