Closing apps

How can i close apps on my iPhone and iPad using IOS7? Typically when i open apps and stop using them, they are still "open" and you could close those pressing the "start" button oN the device. Since i installed iOS 7, they still appear but cant close them. Eveytime i click oN an app, it opeens the app.

Anyone an idea?
