Help my delete key on logitech keyboard for iPad shuts down iPad

Please help... my ipad is 2 months old and the first wireless keyboard started acting funny when you hit the delete key to delete a letter or word. When you select "delete" the ipad goes dark and you have to slide to unlock it.

I returned the keyboard and just got a new one and it is doing the same thing.

Any suggestions?
