I don't have Numbers open but the icon in the dock periodically starts hopping. When I start Pages, it starts normal. There aren't any popups.
Any one know why it is jumping? Usually apps only do that when they are open and are requesting attention.
Broke down and called Apple. After dragging the Numbers icon to the trash and then dragging the one from the Applications folder back to the dock, it stopped jumping.
It was like a little tiny exorcism. đ
The icon "jumps" when the application needs you attention. You may have tried to quit the application or started the application. switch to it (by clicking the icon in the dock) to see the message(s).
This is common for any application.
A screenshot while it is jumping? Uh - no.
Imagine the icon jumping as you described. Now remove the little spotlight under the icon. That's what it looks like.
I did read the post and was offering options for how you might think the app is closed and there still be a jumping app in the dock. Can you post a screenshot of the dock while the app is jumping?
I do not think I have ever had an app jump that was not running.
When any application is already open - yes, that is what happens.
But you didn't read the post. The app is closed and still jumps. Clicking it opens the app and there is not message.
OK. I have never seen a dock icon jump when the application is not running. You can post feedback to Apple to file a bug report using the menu item "Number > Provide Numbers Feedback"
