iOS 7.1 on iPod touch 4G

I really want iOS 7.1 on the iPod touch 4G. And honestly, I really don't care how much it lags, Apple can remove more features than the iPhone 4 version if required to get *decent* speed. I tried to install Garageband on my iPod only to find out I need iOS 7.0 or later to install.

I know that the iPhone has 512mb of ram while the iPod touch 4G only has 256mb of ram. Honestly, Apple can enable virtual memory on the iPod touch 4G just to get reasonable performance. I know, someone will say vm can damage the flash drive inside, but the battery will most likely die sooner then the flash drive will get corrupted. Seems like everyone is gving me the answer I already know, but I think that if Apple put effort into iOS 7.1 for the iPod touch 4G, it will work. Not super fast, but not super slow either.

If Apple had any intention of releasing iOS 7 on the fourth-generation iPod touch, they would have done so when they first released iOS 7. iOS 7 will not run on the fourth-gen iPod touch and that's the only answer anyone can give you.

VM lowers performance, by the way, it doesn't increase it. Flash memory is significantly slower that RAM. iOS already uses VM as efficiently as Apple can make it.

If you want iOS 7, you're just going to have to buy a fifth-generation iPod touch. The chances of Apple backing down on their decision not to support the fourth-gen iPod touch are so vanishingly small as to not be worth considering.

Regards.

How about you stop complaning? We all want iOS 7. You just got 6.1.5, an update for a outdated software version (iOS 6) only for a outdated device. (iPod touch 4G)

Maybe it is possible to make an iOS 7 version only for 256 MB RAM devices, but that requires time, money and a lot of work.

Either buy the 5G iPod, or an iPhone/iPad. Sorry we can't help you.
